CSS/XMLTimeline

CSS/XML Timeline is a simple yet powerful HTML5 tool for generating interactive timelines from CSS and dynamic XML data. Create XML events then pass them to this tool to generate a timeline. The XML source can be prepared manually, or generated dynamically using any scripting language (PHP, ASP, CFML, Perl, etc.)

HTML - URL API

The URL API is available only in registered copies of CSS/XML Timeline.

To invoke timeline functions via URL parameters, append the appropriate parameters to the query string of the web page URL.

In case the web page displays multiple timelines, each parameter must target a specific timeline. The parameter name must start with the timeline's div id, followed by an underscore, and then the variable name to send to the timeline.

Encode parameter values to avoid URL conflicts.

<HTML>
<HEAD>

   <script type="text/javascript" src="includes/universe.js"></script>
   <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/universe.css" type="text/css">

</HEAD>
<BODY bgcolor="#FFFFFF">

<P>This is my web page.</p>

<div id='universe'></div>

<script>
   new Timeline("universe", "xml/universe.xml");
</script>

</BODY>
</HTML>

http://www.domain.com/web_page.html?universe_event=Big%20Bang

Jump to Event

To jump to an event, append a [timeline_id]_event parameter to the URL's query string. Use an encoded event title as a parameter value:

http://www.domain.com/web_page.html?universe_event=Big%20Bang
